UPS Announces Fuel Surcharge Adjustment for International Ground Import/Export Services

Effective March 2, 2026, UPS has updated its international fuel surcharge structure for UPS Standard services to and from Canada and Mexico.

Under the revised structure, fuel surcharge percentages will increase by 1 percentage point across applicable UPS International Ground Import and Export services. For example, with the U.S. national average diesel price at $3.71 per gallon as of Feb. 16, 2026, the fuel surcharge under the new table will be 21.75% of the transportation charge — up from 20.75% previously.

Key Details

  • Effective Date: March 2, 2026
  • Applicable Services: UPS Standard import and export to/from Canada and Mexico
  • Index Basis: Surcharge tied to the weekly U.S. national average diesel price
  • Example: At $3.71 per gallon diesel, fuel surcharge increases from 20.75% → 21.75%

What This Means for Shippers

  • The fuel surcharge percentage applied to applicable services will increase by 1 percentage point under the revised table.
  • Fuel surcharge levels will continue to adjust weekly based on the U.S. national average diesel price as published by the EIA.
  • As diesel prices change, surcharge percentages will adjust accordingly.
TransImpact will continue monitoring for any changes to UPS’s domestic fuel surcharge structure and communicate updates as they become available.
