UPS continues to implement off-cycle changes that increase costs for small parcel shippers.
UPS’s latest announcement states, “Effective March 24, 2025, the applicable zone will change for certain origin/destination ZIP code pairs.”
This means the carrier is shifting zip codes on the fringe of one zone to the next longer zone (e.g., Zone 2 to Zone 3) to drive additional revenue and profit. While this type of change typically has a low impact on any shippers individually, it is something all companies should monitor.
This change is another reason companies must regularly review their carrier pricing and contracts. You need to know how much this zone adjustment will impact your budget for the rest of 2025. TransImpact can help with a no-obligation analysis and advise you on new ways to reduce shipping costs.
