TransImpact’s 5th Annual Polar Bear Plunge for American Heart Association
Emerald Isle, N.C. (Feb. 4, 2022) — For the fifth year, TransImpact employees will participate in the Polar Bear Plunge, raising money for the American Heart Association (AHA) and plunging into the freezing Atlantic Ocean near the company’s international headquarters.
The plunge is the culmination of an annual fundraiser for the AHA. Donations to the American Heart Association are designated to one of six lucky TransImpact team members, selected by popular vote within the company. The one with the largest amount of AHA donations will be crowned the winner and will take the plunge on March 1.
If total donations reach $12,000, ALL of the elected “polar bears” will run into the icy waves. If the total donation amount reaches $15,000, the entire company will take the plunge!
The potential polar bears this year are Gregg Spence (VP, Managed Logistics), Branden Burt (Director of Operations), John Howard (COO), Joey Inman (Sr. Pricing Analyst, Managed Logistics), Amy Nowell (Director of Marketing), and David Heath (CFO).
“As a company, supporting research into heart disease has always been very important to us,” said Berkley Stafford, TransImpact CEO. “In the United States, heart disease is the leading cause of death, and it has impacted the lives of many of us at TransImpact. The Polar Bear Plunge is a great way for us to make an impact against this disease while having fun at the same time.”
The Polar Bear Plunge was inspired by International Polar Bear Day, celebrated on February 27 each year. The Plunge is part of the company’s charitable IMPACT1 initiative, by which TransImpact donates annually 1% of profits, 1% of employee time (via volunteering), and 1% of in-kind services. IMPACT1 is an acronym for Improvements Made by People ACTing as 1. It was created in early 2017 to formalize the company’s philanthropic activities.
The 2022 Polar Bear Plunge will take place Tuesday, March 1, 4 p.m. ET, at the Islander Access in Emerald Isle, NC, and will be streamed via live video on the company’s Facebook page (https://www.facebook.com/TeamTransImpact/) Donations and votes can be made at the event landing page on https://app.mobilecause.com/vf/2022PBPlunge
