Transportation Impact recognized for Corporate Social Responsibility

Emerald Isle supply chain management firm honored by non-profit organization CAI for corporate social responsibility

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Emerald Isle, N.C. (March 12, 2018) – Emerald Isle supply chain spend management firm Transportation Impact has been honored for its philanthropic program, IMPACT1, by CAI, a North Carolina non-profit membership organization.

TI was awarded CAI’s Ovation Award in the category of Corporate Social Responsibility. This year, notes the CAI website, the review process was challenging because of the number and high quality of HR best practices submitted by the organization’s members.

“We are humbled and honored to have received this award from an organization focused on people,” says Keith Byrd, co-founder of Transportation Impact. “It shows that we are on the right track with our efforts and our commitment to give back to our community. Our people are our greatest treasure — and that means not only the people who work with us, but the people whose lives we impact simply by our presence here in Emerald Isle.”

IMPACT1 — Improvements Made by People ACTing as 1 — is a pledge by the company to provide 1% in goodwill services, 1% of employee time, and 1% of company profit to the community. Since its inception in March 2017, IMPACT1 has provided more than $1 million in tangible, targeted, life-altering support to the community of Emerald Isle and surrounding communities. It is also inspiring other local business owners to create their own IMPACT1 programs.

“What’s amazing is that this award came out of the blue. Our philanthropic efforts were recognized due to word of mouth, our website, and social media,” says Britt Vinson, TI’s HR Specialist. Thanks to this recognition, Vinson was asked to present to other NC employers on the topic of “How IMPACT1 began, what IMPACT1 has evolved into today, how the program positively affects our culture and morale, and how other employers can implement the same program within their organizations” at the CAI HR Management Conference, held March 7–8, 2018, in Raleigh, NC. “It was a fabulous opportunity to share our vision and practice of giving back to the community with other North Carolina employers,” she says.
