UPS Announces Multiple Surcharge Changes, including LPS, AHS, and Fuel

UPS recently announced several surcharge updates worth noting.

Domestic Large Package Surcharge and Additional Handling Charge

Effective Date: August 17, 2025

Domestic Large Package Surcharge (LPS):

• LPS will no longer be applied to Domestic Packages based on length plus girth.
• Domestic Packages with a cubic size greater than 17,280 cubic inches will be subject to LPS (cubic size = length x width x height).
• Domestic Packages that weigh over 110 lbs will be subject LPS  (this is new for the application of LPS).
• Other factors currently used to determine LPS applicability will remain unchanged (length exceeding 96 inches).

Surcharge Amounts:

Commercial packages: Weight, Cubic Size, Length

  • Zone 3-4: $225.00
  • Zone 5-6: $250.00
  • Zone 7+: $260.00

Residential packages: Weight, Cubic Size, Length

• • Zone 2: $240.00
  • Zone 3-4: $260.00
  • Zone 5-6: $297.50
  • Zone 7+: $305.00

Domestic Additional Handling Charge (AHC):

• AHC will no longer be applied to Domestic Packages based on length plus girth.
• Domestic Packages with a cubic size greater than 8,640 cubic inches will be subject to AHC (cubic size = length x width x height).
• Other factors currently used to determine AHC applicability will remain unchanged (weight exceeding 50 lbs, length of longest side exceeding 48 inches, width of second longest side exceeding 30 inches, certain packaging).

Domestic Fuel Surcharge

Effective May 26, 2025

The U.S. Ground Domestic and the UPS Ground Saver® Fuel Surcharge and the U.S. Domestic Air Fuel Surcharge will change. Details on these changes can be found using this link: Read More About the Rate Change

This update increases Domestic Air, Ground, and Ground Saver fuel surcharge percentages by 1%.  The last domestic FSC increase by UPS was +.5% in early March.

Delivery Area Surcharges

Effective Date: June 1, 2025
