Carrier Surcharge Update

UPS has announced an update to its Fuel Surcharge table effective October 31, 2022.

Notable is that UPS has added a new fuel surcharge – International Ground Export Import Surcharge.  This does not mean that certain packages were not getting charged for fuel. International Ground packages were simply charged the weekly Domestic Ground fuel surcharge. This is important as it gives UPS the flexibility to determine the fuel surcharge amounts for International Ground packages (to and from Canada and Mexico) separately from domestic packages.  During the first week this change goes into effect (10/31/22), International Ground packages are incurring an 18.25% fuel surcharge whereas Domestic Ground packages are paying 17.25%.

The Domestic Ground Fuel Surcharge will apply to charges for the following services:

UPS Ground®, UPS® Ground with Freight Pricing, UPS Hundredweight Ground Service, UPS SurePost®, and
UPS® Basic.

The Ground Fuel Surcharge does not apply to UPS Ground packages originating in the 48 contiguous United
States when subject to Retail rates.

The Domestic Air Fuel Surcharge will apply to charges for the following services:

UPS Next Day Air® Early, UPS Next Day Air®, UPS Next Day Air Saver®, UPS 2nd Day Air A.M.®, UPS 2nd Day
Air®, UPS 3 Day Select®, and UPS Hundredweight Air services.

The UPS® Standard Services Fuel Surcharge will apply to charges for the following services:
UPS® Standard to/from Canada and UPS® Standard to/from Mexico

The International Air-Export and International Air-Import Fuel Surcharge will apply to charges for
the following services:

UPS 3 Day Select® from Canada, UPS Worldwide Express Plus®, UPS Worldwide Express NA1®, UPS Worldwide Express®,

UPS Worldwide Express Freight® Midday, UPS Worldwide Express Freight®, UPS Worldwide
Saver®, UPS Worldwide Expedited®, and UPS Express Critical®.
