Emerald Isle, N.C. (Feb. 1, 2021) — Transportation Impact is excited to announce its fourth annual Polar Bear Plunge benefiting the American Heart Association.
In the event, one member of the TI leadership team will take a plunge into the freezing Atlantic. The “lucky” executive will be chosen via voting in the form of donations to the AHA in the executive’s name. The executive with the greatest dollar amount of donations will take to the ocean.
The leadership team members taking part are Berkley Stafford, CEO; John Howard, COO; Norm Pollock, CTO; David Heath, CFO; Jamie Vogel, EVP Sales & Marketing; Brian Byrd, EVP Operations, and Joe Vocaire: EVP Site Lead.
If the total donation amount reaches $12,000, the entire leadership team will take the plunge. If the total donation amount reaches $15,000, the entire company will take the plunge!
“As a company, supporting research into heart disease has always been very important to us,” said Berkley Stafford, Transportation Impact CEO. “In the United States, heart disease is the leading cause of death, and it has impacted the lives of many of us at Transportation Impact. The Polar Bear Plunge is a great way for us to make an impact against this disease while having fun at the same time.”
The Polar Bear Plunge was inspired by International Polar Bear Day, celebrated on February 27 each year. The Plunge is part of the company’s charitable IMPACT1 initiative, by which Transportation Impact donates annually 1% of profits, 1% of employee time (via volunteering), and 1% of in-kind services. IMPACT1 is an acronym for Improvements Made by People ACTing as 1. It was created in early 2017 to formalize the company’s philanthropic activities.
The 2021 Polar Bear Plunge will take place Monday, March 1, 2021, 4 p.m. ET, at the Islander Access in Emerald Isle, NC, and will be streamed via live video.
