Transportation Impact named Business NC Best Employer 2020

Emerald Isle, N.C. (June 1, 2020)

Business North Carolina has named Transportation Impact of Emerald Isle as a 2020 Best Employer in the medium category. The honor reflects a company culture that emphasizes a supportive atmosphere, giving and humanity, and approachable leaders and managers, as well as a commitment to North Carolina, where the company has been located since its inception in 2008. This is the third consecutive year that TI has earned a place on the list.

Founded by shipping industry veterans Keith Byrd and Travis Burt, TI helps companies save money on small package and freight shipping costs and has developed a formidable reputation as a community steward and sought-after employer.

“Our employees have honored us by once again earning us a place on the NC Best Employer list,” said John Howard, COO at Transportation Impact. “We are grateful to them for being the amazing employees they are and for chasing opportunities every day to go above and beyond in what they do. We truly appreciate the motivation, energy, and creativity each brings to carry out our mission with such dedication.”

Best Employers in North Carolina is an initiative dedicated to finding and recognizing North Carolina’s best employers. The free statewide program is managed by the Best Companies Group, which uses a two-part process to survey both employers and their employees on dozens of topics, from recruiting practices to recognition programs. The award is presented in conjunction with Business North Carolina magazine.

“This award affirms what I feel — TI is a wonderful place to work,” said Jess Bernhardt, Executive Assistant at Transportation Impact. “I’m encouraged to volunteer in the community and support organizations that are important to me. Professionally, I’m challenged and motivated in my job role. Our leadership team is supportive and lets employees know they are appreciated. I’m proud to say I work at TI.”

The award is also valuable for attracting quality talent to the company, which is located in a small beach town some distance from a major city. “From an HR standpoint, it means a lot as I recruit new employees because this award validates our amazing culture for our prospective candidates and also makes us an employer of choice!” said Britt Vinson, Human Resources Manager at Transportation Impact.

Some of the factors that propelled Transportation Impact to the top of the Best Employer list in 2020 include our amazing company culture and an extremely generous benefits package. These perks include a beautiful, state-of-the-art company headquarters (with a recent addition due to growth!) that is just steps from the beach, Paid Time Off (PTO), paid holidays, employee birthdays off with a $100 restaurant gift card to celebrate, work schedule flexibility to encourage work-life balance, tuition assistance, a 401(k) Plan with a company match and discretionary profit-sharing, a comprehensive benefits plan with a significant contribution towards employee and dependent coverage, company-paid life insurance use of company condos in Myrtle Beach and Emerald Isle at no cost, free NC Aquarium memberships, gym reimbursement, paid employee car washes, company bicycles for employee use, quarterly employee events which have included fishing tournaments, scavenger hunts and laser tag, as well as discounts to the restaurant on top of our headquarters, as well as to a local surf shop, South Swell. Transportation Impact has a true “work hard, play hard” mentality and we love to reward our employees for always going above and beyond!
