Business North Carolina Ranks TI 18th among NC Mid-Market FAST 40

Emerald Isle, N.C. (October 3, 2019)

Business North Carolina magazine have again ranked Transportation Impact among the state’s 40 strongest mid-size companies. The Emerald Isle-based parcel and freight spend management firm ranked 18th on the Mid-Market Fast 40.

The award, which TI also received in 2016, 2017, and 2018, comes on the heels of the company’s rare seventh consecutive appearance on the Inc. 5000 list of the nation’s fastest-growing private companies.

“North Carolina has been our home from day one and we are fully committed to this state, so it’s extremely rewarding to have this recognition of our contribution to the health and vitality of North Carolina,” said TI Vice President Sales and Marketing Jamie Vogel.

Nominees for the Fast 40 award must be a privately owned or publicly traded commercial enterprise headquartered in North Carolina, have net annual revenue between $10 million and $500 million, and show sustained revenue and employment growth over the past three years.

The rankings are objectively based on a formula that takes into account percentage rate of total gross revenue growth over the three-year period, according to the website of Cherry Bekaert, the independent accounting firm that verifies all reported revenue and employment figures for the award. The award is further sponsored by Regions Bank and Ward and Smith. Past winners include Bojangles, LendingTree, and Movement Mortgage.

Since Keith Byrd and Travis Burt founded the company in 2008, Transportation Impact has grown to nearly 1000 customers and 80 employees, with a forecast revenue of $50 million for 2019. The company helps high-volume small package and freight shippers reduce the costs associated with those services, as well as identify and implement operational efficiencies. This year TI is projected to save customers an average of 19.9% on their shipping spend for a total savings of $551 million.Page Break

“We are thrilled to be ranked on the Mid-Market Fast 40 for a fourth consecutive time,” said TI President Berkley Stafford. “Our first decade in business was one of rapid growth, and we’re looking to continue that as we move into this next phase.

“We are thankful for the opportunity Business North Carolina and Cherry Bekaert have provided for firms like ours to showcase our talents, and we are even more thankful to our people for their commitment to our customers and our company. Without them, there would be no awards.”
